APK Download Gmail 4 7 2 Update Adds Promised Auto Show Images Feature

Google said it would do it, and now it has. The latest update to Androids Gmail app has enabled images automatically, now made safe because Google is serving up the images after hosting them on its own proxy servers. Users will no longer need to tap the "show pictures" message above the email content.

Left: old style. Right: 4.7.2.

Whats New

Were looking through the application now to see if there are any more changes - this thing is so fresh that Google hasnt even updated the Play Store description. If you find something new, feel free to mention it in the comments section. Of course Googles rollout method means that you might not get the app from the Play Store for a few days, so if you want to play with it now, check out the download below. There should also be a pop-up notice of some kind informing users of the change, as demonstrated in these strings:

Images

Always show

Ask before showing

Images Now Showing

"Loading images is now safer, so youll automatically see all images within a message when you open it. %1$s."

You can update your preferences under %1$s in %2$s.

You can disable this functionality in the Gmail settings menu for your individual email accounts - see middle screenshot above. Well update this post with any additional significant changes that are found. If youre wondering whats been added lately, you can check out our download pages forGmail 4.7 (vacation responder and KitKat printing, among other things), Gmail 4.6 (more Card UI elements), and Gmail 4.5.2 (return of the delete button).

The APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take days, download and install it just like any other APK.

AT T to launch the 32GB Nokia Lumia 1520 on January 10 Update

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is the companys high-end "phablet" Windows Phone. The 16GB variant is currently available at numerous outlets within the US, as well as AT&T for direct purchasing. The mobile operator has yet to launch the 32GB version of the Windows Phone, but this could well change soon as weve learnt that January 10th is believed to be the day when AT&T opens up orders.

Rum:9

Its been known for a while that the 32GB version of the Lumia 1520 would be heading to AT&T in due course, and were sure consumers who are after more internal storage than whats currently available will be pleased to see such a launch. Its also worth noting that both models come with microSD support, allowing you to add a further 64GB to the table.

Weve attempted to reach out to AT&T for further confirmation and will update you accordingly. Are you waiting for a Lumia 1520 with more capacity? Sound off your thoughts in the comments.

Update: We understand that the Lumia 1520 will be DF (Direct Fulfillment) only, meaning you will have to go online to order and not via stores.

Samsung Galaxy S III receiving Android 4 3 update in India I9300XWUGML4

The Galaxy S III is finally receiving the Android 4.3 update in India, more than a month after the update started rolling out in the US and a few other regions. The OTA update (build I9300XWUGML4) comes in at around 408 MB, and brings with it compatibility with the Galaxy Gear (though the smartwatch’s high cost in the country might make this feature not-so-useful for most), improved performance, new camera modes, updated interface, and more.

Here’s the full changelog:

• - GALAXY GEAR Support
• - TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
• - Core UI elements updated to the ones on the Galaxy S4 (Galaxy S4′s theme all over)
• - New Samsung Keyboard
• - GPU drivers have been updated (Higher GPU benchmark scores)
• - New Lockscreen: Multiple Widgets, improved ripple effect than Android 4.1.2, ability to change clock size and set a personal message
• - New Screen modes (From S4): Adapt Display and Professional Photo
• - Daydream
• - Driving mode
• - Actionable notifications
• - Move-to-SD-card feature
• - New Camera mode : Sound and Shot
• - New Additions in Notification Centre
• - Completely revamped Settings UI (Tabbed interface – Exactly like the Galaxy S4)
• - Implementation of Voice controls (Let’s you control various parts of the phone using voice commands – Galaxy S4 feature)
• - New Samsung Apps: Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Music
• - Full screen Samsung apps
• - New S-Voice (from Galaxy S4)

As usual, it might be a few days before the update reaches your device, though the rollout should complete within a week. Those unwilling to wait can do a manual check in the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu, check through Kies, or download the firmware from our firmware section and update manually.

Oh, and before you ask when the update will arrive in other countries, keep in mind that that’s something no one can tell you but Samsung, but sadly, Samsung doesn’t really offer any info on its schedule, so you’ll simply have to be patient about it.
